A development of 173 affordable eco homes designed with a passive approach.

This unique housing project provides 173 properties, of which two-thirds are affordable homes for rent or via controlled affordable sale.

The design principles were based on a robust, passive approach that was adapted to accommodate future developments in technologies and standards, particularly with regard to energy, water and recycling. Each home was highly insulated, to make maximum use of solar gains. Other sustainable building techniques have been utilised.

The scheme has been awarded a ‘Very Good’ EcoHomes rating. Broadclose was also awarded The Richard Fielden Award within The Housing Design Award and ‘The Mail on Sunday’ British Homes Award commended the project in the Best Housing Development.
