Stafford Moor Fisheries
Contemporary holiday lodges on a rural 67-acre estate.
Stafford Moor Fishery near Winkleigh, Devon is a well-established fishery which provides some of the best coarse and carp fishing in the South West. Set in a mature sixty-seven-acre estate, there is holiday lodge accommodation and caravan pitches. Trewin Design Architects were appointed to design some new lodges which complement the existing holiday business and provide year-round accommodation.
The lodges are sympathetic to the area and the site, picking up on the timber cladding of the existing lodges but reinterpreting this in a more contemporary style. The lodges have generous open plan spaces to mirror the wide-open views towards the lakes.
The units themselves have an open plan kitchen, living and dining area for sociable cooking, eating and relaxing with the only subdivision being to form a W.C. Bedrooms are generous and flexible and each has their own en-suite and storage. The bedrooms have large glazed openings, privacy is provided by external timber louvres. Externally there is a covered deck area attached to each unit allowing visitors to utilize the outside space throughout the year.
The large glazed area to the deck allows the internal environment to flow out into the outdoors and the external environment to seamlessly flow into the units. The solar gain and glare will be controlled by incorporating timber louvres between the timber posts. Each unit also has an external fishing tackle storage area.
