Tre Pol Pen
Award Winning Farmshop and Restaurant bringing a rural community together.
The Tre Pol & Pen Farm Shop forms the newest part of a comprehensive scheme to enhance the sustainability of the Landue Estate and to help protect its future by improving the long-term financial profitability of the farm. This has benefitted the local village in the form of employment and by establishing the farm shop as meeting place for the community.
The Landue Estate is approximately 500 acres mainly stocked with a herd of Devon Ruby cows, calves and sheep. The farm shop and café provide high quality produce from the farm and local area and provides customers with a greater understanding of their food’s provenance.
As part of wider community benefits, the public footpath from the farm shop to the village has been upgraded allowing pedestrians from the village to have direct, safe access to the facilities and to encourage walking.
The farm shop sits within an area of Great Landscape Value and sensitive landscaping was key to the farm shop sitting well within its context. To mitigate surface water runoff and to enhance the biodiversity of the site a new lake was formed which provides the farm shop and cafe with a focal point.
The development includes an open plan retail area for shopping and light refreshment; butchery; bakery and kitchen cafe. The building is of level access and single storey making it easily and safely accessible to both visitors and employees.
