High aspiration, low cost, energy efficient homes using Green Guide A+ materials.

This was a community led project by Devon and Cornwall Housing Association conjunction with Devonport Land Community Trust who formed a partnership to instigate a new housing project with very high aspirations, providing low cost, energy efficient housing.

These innovative Code 5 houses use Green Guide A+ rated materials. The elevations are clad using cedar shingles and weatherboarding. Limited areas of render provide a palette that suits its leafy context. The orientation of the buildings takes advantage of solar gain to help reduce the load on the heating system.

The site is within a Conservation Area and the design needed to be innovative and contemporary whilst being sensitive to its surrounding context.
Garrison Close has met high building standards; the Building for Life criteria, Lifetime Homes and Secured by Design.
